Water pipe leak
water pipe gaskets let go underneath the intake manifold, 1995 xj6. The only way to access the two sets of two bolts is to undo all of the intake manifold nuts/bolts, but complete removal is not required. No need to worry about the harness going thru the intake. Best way is to put a 2-3 foot wide board across the passenger front fender and top of engine, get a step ladder and climb on up, undoing all off the intake fasteners, not too bad of a job. Need to dis attach some electrical fittings and tag. Push intake out of the way, reach down and unbolt the four fasteners, remove and clean the water pipe and reassemble with new gaskets. Also a good time to do the ******* hose.
I'm pretty sure you can get to water rail bolts from underneath the car, the oil filler housing is in the way but that's easier to remove then the whole intake and you might be able to do it without removing it anyway, depends on your hand size and how quickly you get annoyed
I did this on an XJ40 which is pretty much the same engine, although I've snapped one of the bolts while undoing it so had to remove the intake anyway. They are quite fragile.

Give it a try on an X300 and get back to us.....
No need to, I can always check a pic in your own thread that shows the water rail and can see straight away that I'd be able to access these bolts from underneath the car
I tried from underneath, could''t reach the bolts, but didn't remove the oil filter housing, as suggested. Took a look at the starter while I was under and am hoping I never have to wrestle with that.
