Weird Electrical Problems on my Daimer V12 (1996)
Hey,
Well here's a challenge for you!! lol
My Dad's Daimler Century V12 (1996 and 32,000 miles) is behaving very oddly and I hope some clever genius might help me out solving the problem.
Firstly the car was left outside in the elements for 3 years without starting that much or being driven (I know, I know it couldn't be helped at the time)
After fitting a new battery and upon driving the car, it's displaying a selection of very weird electrical issues that are driving my poor Dad crazy.
Here's the list (not sure if they are related or not);
1. Fluid in chromatic dipping mirror has gone (saving up for a new part)
2. Sunroof will only half open and then will not shut properly
3. The dashboard lights are always on (both instruments an door panels)
4. The alarm does not sound any more.
5. The radio will not switch on or off (also volume does not work!)
6. The memory facility on the drivers side has stopped working.
7. We are getting random warning lights coming up on the dashboard (yesterday it was TRACS failure and ABS failure, lasts about a day then stops)
8. Inaccurate petrol gauge (but I think thats just because the car hasn't been used and the "float" sensor is still sticking a bit.
My feeling (or hope) is that there is maybe a bad earth somewhere connected to the ECU maybe? Downloading the service manuals to have a read.
Maybe there is a connector in the engine bay which is bad for corrosion?
The rain on Guernsey is horrible saltly and attacks everything.
Anyhelp would be great!!
Just to add that as far as driving the car is concerned everything is fine, starts fine, drives fine, gearbox behaves, engine running smooth.
