Weird problem
I have a 1995 XJ6 that I bought new and now has 220K miles. All in all has been a great car. Also have I 1996 VP that I just bought.
My '95 car started having strange problems such as a non-start where I had to have the car towed. My mechanic diagnosed a bad crank position sensor. They replaced it and the car started right up. They started it several times after that. Then one time they had a non-start. Their reader said a bad crank position sensor. So they then suspected the ECM and pulled that. When they did water ran out of where the harness connector plugged into the ECM.
Turned out that the windshield that I had had replaced b/c of having been "sandblasted" from road miles had been leaking right onto the ECM which lives immediately in front the passenger front door behind the trim panel.
I sent the computer to ECM depot in Texas and they redid it. One of the connector harness pins was so corroded to the point of breaking off. That cost $750. But all is well now.
So if you are having strange problems and have had a windshield replaced SUSPECT A LEAK.
Hope this helps someone.

Thanks from downunder.
Lots of strange NO START threads appearing on the X300 area lately, and the replacement. or lack of, of the windscreen never comes up.
Probably would do no harm to go and look at my ECM, just because.
