Default What does everyone think Free Alignment for life!

If anyone has heard of tiresplus, not sure if its just a florida location, or world wide, but they offer a speical for $129.95 black friday speical, regular after sunday is 169.95, a limetime alignment as long as you own the car. What does everyone think of this deal? The guy told me I can come as many times as I want to, and its a 4 wheel alignment. Does anyone think that x300's need a speical alignment? Or can they get aligned anywhere? Seems like a great deal to me, as I do get my car aligned 2 times a year and its 60+ everytime. I may plan on getting my car aligned every oil change now.... Any thoughts people??

I've just spent some time at a few local tire stores asking about alignments because I've read that the suspension needs to be pre-loaded. The guys at my local TiresPlus didn't know what I meant, the guys at PepBoys said that meant having a driver in the car, BUT that it was unnecessary on my car (but more necessary on a newer model such as the 2010 Xk). I think $130ish is a good price for a life long alignment as it's more motivation for them to do it properly as you'll just be coming back if it's done wrong. My local Jag dealer wants $140 for an front alignment, and $240 for a 4 wheel alignment. I wouldn't think it necessary to have an alignment done twice a year...

I got the lifetime treatment at a local Kal Tire and they have honoured it even though I have replaced ball joints etc and messed it up myself! Nice when you do your own work.

I don't think they necessarily need to be pre-loaded but in the alignment specification table in the service manual there's a ride height spec.....something like 163mm front and 155mm rear, measured at the bottom of the front and rear crossmembers.

Never bothered with it myself <shrug>

Cheers

The lifetime deals are based on the premise that most owners will dispose of their cars before too long.

For someone who is keeping their car a long time, it can be a great deal.

One guy with a 1966 Corvette got a lifetime guarantee from a national muffler chain. He stored the car every winter. The back cans on that vintage sloped towards the front and the collected condensation rusts the seam. They put on new mufflers for him every spring. For 30 years. He thought it was a GREAT deal.

If it's an interesting car, sometimes the mechanics don't mind getting a break from working on Taurus's. It's a treat.
