I own a 95 X300 (XJ6) and really love the car. But I had a friend of mine with a 96 have a significant computer problem to the point that every where he took the car they said the computer needed to be replaced at the tune of $6,000.00. I have not head of any real trend of computer problems.

I would like to hear of any computer problems that any of you might have had and what the solution was along with the cost.

You're speaking of the ECM? (Engine Control Module). If so, reman's can be had for around $260 USD at RockAuto.

I've also found [used] Engine Management ECUs for $2,000-$3,500 USD

Personally, I've not had any issues.

 

"Computer problems"? As caldercay says, the most expensive modules on an X300 sell for less than $300. on ebay, and few are reported bad anyway. Somebody is feeding someone a large fish tale.
