Hey all,

Is it possible to upgrade the digital clock to an analog clock in an X300? If so would that mean replacing the whole clock/radio panel, or what?

....is it "possible", yes anything is, but I'm not aware of any simple solution or that anyone has done so.

Although I have seen a thread or two where people have replaced the OEM digital clock with a different digital unit. But now that we know of at least a couple shops that can repair the digital clock "permanently"(time will tell), I doubt many owners would bother a replacement with a different digital clock. In addition there are numerous kits on places like eBay to repair the digital clocks.

Noting those efforts where a handful of owners have installed other digital clocks, in like kind if one could find a small square or rectangular analog clock that could fit within the rectangular opening where he digital clock currently resides, it is conceivable that you could put an analog clock there.

Another option might be a surface mount glued to the front of the existing digital clock location. If you found a clock that would fit the area and had a nice looking bezel to make it look "OEM-ish" and not actually glued on, that might work too.

Of course any analog clock in the existing digital clock location would be tiny.

To do anything else would require a complete rework of the dash area to donate area for the analog clock to reside, which would be major work unless you just "bolted it" somewhere surface mount.

Curious, are you asking because your digital clock is malfunctioning, or just as an aesthetic question as you'd like the look of an analog clock?

Purely aesthetic - I noticed that the digital clock was a weakness of the X300, and wondered, if I ever have owned one, could I upgrade it. Personally prefer the looks of analog clocks as opposed to digital. I know the x308 had one, but that was after a massive change in interiors.
