Default X300 kick panel removal?

Anyone know how to remove the kick panels in front of the front door speakers? Absolutely something that I don't want to break. Thanks in advance.

It's very simple and I think you would struggle to break it.

It's held only by a single stud in the middle of the panel and there is a lip that tucks under the door aperture finisher.

So remove the stud (quarter turn IIRC) and pull back the finisher strip and it will almost fall off.

Sure enough, not so simple on this side of the pond. I see the single fastener but it's not slotted like most quarter turn fasteners. Not sure if it just pulls out with some force, but turning it with my fingernails does nothing. Maybe some one knows?

Often these fasteners, over the years, have been replaced by non OE "anything will do" studs. If it's not slotted then it's not original and is likely to be a Fir Tree type fastener that you might just need to use some effort with a trim remover tool underneath it.

FYI, this is what should be in there.

and it fits in to a slot like this

Sometimes people lose or break those fasteners and pound a fir tree fastener in it's place. 'Panel popper' will lever it out if no slot in it.

Yep. That's exactly what happened. Thanks for the info and part number. I'll try to track a pair down...
