X300 rear hub greasing, yes or no????
Since this X300 is the first "modern" Jag I have owned, old habits die hard.
I have always greased the rear hubs via the tin cap thingy, but this car has the ABS sensors in that hole.
I have searched a fair bit, but nothing answers the question, yet.
Do I remove the sensors, insert the grease gun, and merrily pump away, OR, is the grease going to bugga something up in the sensor area???.
I do not have any issues, just doing my "normal" maintenence thing. A rear wheel bearing failure from NOT greasing it is just silly in my opinion.

Can't see your plan working in this instance as the abs ring is outside of the (grease) seal. I suppose you'd just need to undo the hub nut, pull off the hub, clean some old grease out if you like, then regrease. Use a new hub nut and torque to 230lbs/ft.
Well, now I know how it feels to shoot yourself in the foot.
Another sealed for life item.
Thanks for the quick reply.
One day I will look at drilling and tapping in the space between the 2 bearings and fit a grease point.

Just looked at the Jaguar Classic Parts website and the exploded diagram of the rear hub carrier actually has a 'flange headed screw' which might be worth a look as it may allow grease to be pumped into the bearings. Not sure but best to check and see.
MMMMM, sounds like a plan, then I realised that is the screw that holds the sensor in place, and is further away from the bearing than the sensor.
Obviously they are well packed in the factory????, unlike the earlier system, which I have often found quite dry, but at least they can be greased.
Thanks anyway, and one day I will dissmantle it and do both areas as you suggest.
