Default X300 Steering

Hey Guys,
Just in the last day my 1995 Jaguar XJ6 started making noise when turning, as well as idling. You can hear odd sounds when it's idling and if you turn the wheel while parked you can hear squeaky weird noises, as with driving.

Could this just be low Steering Wheel Fluid? Any ideas?

Probably STALE fluid. I change mine every 2 years, ALL the Jags, and NEVER use ATF, only "power steer fluid/oil", and no noises.

The power steer pump on the X300 is a ZF aluminium unit, and is prone to wear if the fluid is neglected.

I would change the fluid with a proper power steer fluid, syringe the old junk out of the container, put in the new fluid, run for 2 days, do it again, and again, and again until what is in the container is nice and fresh and CLEAN, you just might, IF YOU ARE LUCKY, save your pump and your rack.

Default Check fluid

Grant's advice sounds good, get some good, clean fluid in there.
Mine will sometimes make noise if the level is low -- fixed that though with extra clamps on the hoses, so they don;t leak.
