XJ6 4.0 6 cylinder last year 1997 advice
I sold my XKR 2002 coupe a month ago and the buyer just picked it up today. Sad. After a month of serious shopping I was about to buy a German convertible when my parents inquired if I had bought a car yet, and if not, to speak with them. They offered me my dad's 1997 XJ6 sedan with 63,000 miles, last of the 4.0 6 cylinder engines sold in USA, for a small price that would allow me to use the rest of my car $ to reduce my debt load. As you can imagine, I agreed to the idea but want the car inspected.
Coil packs were replaced years ago.
So, is this the right part of the forum for my inquiries?
Is $4,000 a good price or is that high? My dad is the original owner.
While I am pretty clued in to the XK8/XKR cars, I know virtually nothing about this car and want to proactively look into any maintenance so it can be my daily driver (5,000 miles annually mostly in the city) for the next few years.

Yes, you're posting in the right section...."X300"
There's a buyers guide in one of the sticky topics at the top of this section.
$4000 seems about right for a nice example. It's in the ballpark at least. Ratty and/or high miles cars might go for $2500 . A rare "ultra mint" example might go for $5000 or so.
Cheers
