I suggest some of teh sponsors on this site, like XNG Barratt, etc.

Not sure if things have changed since I was with Jaguar, but back then AJ16 pistons were NOT sold seperately. They were matched to the block, and that was a PITA, but failures of that engine are rare, so maybe not so silly.

Rings, bearings, seals, chains, dampers/guides etc, no problems.

THERE YA GO, corrected myself.

Piston assemblies are available, in STD (Standard) and 0.002" oversize. Thats it, as that block is not able to be machined in the bores.

You will need to specify 3.2 or 4.0ltr.

Yeah, I remember maybe 10 years ago trying to help a fellow main and con-rod bearings for an AJ16. No joy.

The conclusion we drew was that there simply was no demand for them....thus no supply. As time goes by a demand might develop....as sooner or later even the famously robust AJ16s will eventually start wearing out.

I also remember, from about the same time, a USA Jag vendor (Motorcars LTD, perhaps?) having a 20-30 low mileage AJ16s from wrecked cars on hand...and offering them at a silly-low price (like $300 each or some such) just to move 'em. There was simply no demand, thus they were stacking up in their storage yard.

Cheers
DD

You will find all the info here:

If its not there, then you can safely assume that probably no one else knows or the info wasn't shared anywhere else.

main bearings (some grades) are available at Jaguarclassic parts

and depending where the op lives might be just easiest to go machinist shop with the crank and get them to order bearing shells ... I could bet money that there are suitable ones available from non jaguar applications.

Hey gents,

would like to thank you for the great support, finally I have most of the parts together except the pistons. I will have to get them new manufactured I suppose, but this is okay.

Cheers to all

I have some new pistons. Is this for 3.6 or 4 litre? I'll check the size.

I checked. The new set I have appears to be 3.6 litre, slightly under 91 MM at 90.678MM
I can't find the part number anywhere EAC8745 +20 thou. It's one number off the number for a 3.6 as shown on the JDHT site.
Sorry I can't help.

Can someone explain the crankshaft journal bearings ( item # 2 ) different numbers for me ? Are they oversize or hardness related ?
