XJ6 sagging headliner
Like most of you out there, yje headliner over the back seats is sagging (1995 XJ6 VDP)
Questions:
1 - does anyboby know which glue to use (resisting high sun heat)
2 - Has anyone tried to re glue the existiong headliner by injecting some kind of glue (with a syringe for example),
Thanks for your answers

Claude - I'm in the same boat. It's not the glue that gave way, it's the foam backing on the headliner. Regluing my work, nothing to lose but the cost of the glue.
But, armed with my 50%-off coupon at JoAnn fabrics, I bought 3 yards of headliner ($24). I'll use Lock-tite's spray contact adhesive, light coats as not to melt the foam, and just replace it, along with recovering the visors to match.

Here's what I did...
I went to one of those craft stores and bought little cloth buttons ( ? ) with
metal prongs and used 'em to give the headliner an 'upholstered' look.
Yeah, it ain't cricket but it works and nobody who doesn't know these cars would know the diff!
Hope the pic comes out

Sagging headliner
I like this idea and it looks neat
Can you give a bit more details about thse "buttons" ?
How did you "fix" them, glue or something else?
Do you have a pic of one of them?
Thanks
Claude

Another approach is to remove the original foam liner and "paint" it with a 50/50 solution of PVA adhesive and water. This will dry to a hard film, thus sealing the foam and ensuring that it accepts the spray adhesive (upholstery contact adhesive) without melting the foam in the process. Just an option worth considering.

I came across a kit for ~$50 and instructions for recovering an X308 headliner. I assume the same procedure will work on the X300.
Link: 1998 Jaguar XJ8 headliner removal, recovering and replacement instructions.
I think I'm going to try the push-in button route this year and maybe next year I'll have a go at recovering with this kit.

I'll have to go by the store and take a pic as I can't remember enough details to give you.
I'll try to do it today.

Here are the ones I used...
Again, I must pray that the pic comes out.
I think it's a 'Joann's' craft store...sumpin' like that, anyway.
And I just pressed them hard into the headliner.
Of course I did kind of press with my finger to see what configuration and how many of these BRADS ( they're called ) to use so it looks like they're supposed to be there.
Hope this helps.
BTW, they have 'em in a fleur de lis (sp?) or even crosses if you want to keep the vampires out( Or if you're Christian ).
ANYWAY, there are several styles to choose from.
I was a bit trepidatious as I jammed the first one through the liner and into the foam, but hey, it worked!

I just did a quick eBay search (as I find walking into habedashery stores somewhat.... intimidating and awkward...)

The only way to fix the headliner right is to have it replaced. I took mine to an good shop that does that interior work. They knew exactly what to do. I cost me $300 to have it done and it is great. This will happen on all Jag sedans over time. Just part of maintenance.
