xj6 trunk won't open
Help my trunk wont open on my 1995 xj6. tried everything. no motor sound when trunk button is pushed . black key has never worked since Iv'e owned the car (about 5 years) it turns to about the 2:00 positions but nothing happens. Battery charge is good.
Any advice on howI canget the trunk open so I can then figure out why my actuator does not actuate?

RE: xj6 trunk won't open
Almost the same thing happened to my '98 XJ8 about a month ago. Neither the dash button or keyless entry fob would open the trunk, although I could hear the acctuator working. I'm not sure how your key works on the '95 XJ6 however, on my XJ8 the key doesn't turn at all, it's simply inserted intoa slot on thetruckwhich mechanically pushes the latching mechanism open. Of course my first few attemps also failed, and then I started pushing gently down on the truck a few times with the key inserted in the slot - and it worked! Come to find out, when our son put his bookbag in the trunk that morning, one of the shoulder straps became lodged in the latching mechanism. We we're so glad that I could get into the truck because our mechanic was talking about removing the license plate assembly and cutting a hole to expose the trunklatch. Best of luck

Just got our "new" '95 X300 and this morning, the boot lid won't open either from the button on the outside, the switch on the inside or with the key. It's not jammed, it's not getting power.
My mechanic said he thinks the wires from the body into the boot are damaged and that an hour or two of his time will resolve it. I like and trust him but if I can cut down on that cost by doing it myself, that would be good.
So: Can anyone tell me how I can get the boot lid open without having to drill or cut into the body?
Thanks in advance,
Rhett

Update!
To anyone who comes across this in the future- if you are having this same issue, it can be manually opened with the key if you spray lubricant into the keyhole and work it back and forth until it moves freely.
Is is that still does not work you can remove the license plate, shine a flashlight into one of the holes where the license plates attaches (you may have to pop out one of the plastic license plate anchors) and look into the other hole and guide your screwdriver into the mechanism. This will take some trial-and-error but you will eventually get it!
