Question XJ8 Starburst Wheels on X300

Hello All,
I have purchased a nice set of " starburst " wheels for my x300.
The problem is the grease cap on the front seems to stick out too far and the wheels are not a good fit.
Is it possible to manipulate the cap with a club hammer to make them fit?
Thanks.
John

Thank you Brendan,
Is it wise to use a piece of wood between hammer and cap to save splitting the cap.
Or should I just use gentle blows to flat the cap.
John.

I don't think there's much danger of splitting it. I'd probably use a wooden dowel as a punch just to direct the hammer blows to the right point.

John, I have read here 5-7 years ago that that is indeed the method. I haven't had to do that myself. the X308 Asteroids fit without trouble.
