Default XJR oil filter

Hi. Because of very limited space,it seems impossible to change the oil filter on my -95 xjr 6. Will a special tool be needed or maybe VERY small strong hands?

Regards

You're probably getting tangled up on that thin support rod which runs between the engine block and the inlet manifold.

What I do is remove the lower bolt (10mm wrench) and swing the support rod upward.

This allows much easier access to the filter

Cheers

Doug is right on with the advice. Moving the support is the only way on the supercharged engines.

I have done a couple of oil changes without removing any support from underneath [car on ramps] just had to jostle around filter but found a way to both remove old and install new.......

I have changed the oil and filter (from under the car removing the support)..Thanks again for advise!
How many miles between oil / filter changes is recommended? I cannot find any advise on these intervals in the owners manuals.
Regards.

The typical service interval for the X300 cars is every 7500 miles. There should be a link to maintenance schedules here on the forum. The Supercharged cars did get a slightly revised schedule. But all-in-all, the oil changes were recommended every 7500. Timing and distance is up to you but should not exceed 7500 miles or 6 months, "whichever comes first" (per Jaguar). I do mine once a year because I put much less than 7500 miles on in one year.
