Question XJR typical driveline loss? (Automatic Transmission)

Didn't find this in a quick search, but has anyone determined the typical "driveline loss" % for the X300 XJR?

In other words, if the engine makes 322HP, what is the typical rear wheel dyno HP stock, and the resulting % delta?

Just curious.

Question So, how about, what is the RWHP on an X300?

So, maybe if I ask it another way we can calculate the typical driveline loss on an X300: Has anyone measured the actual rear wheel HP on a normally aspirated and supercharged X300?

Well, answering my own question

Here are some interesting data points:

1996 XJR

Before "andybracket"
~263PS (~259HP) measured rear wheel
~471NM (~347ftlb)

After "andybracket"

279.6PS (~276HP) measured rear wheel
483.1NM (~359ftlb)

1996 XJR

Max RWHP 257.6 or 242HP , not sure
336ftlb reported as max it appears.

1997 XJ6

192.42hp
224.47ftlb

So, some simple math for the HP side for the XJR:

X300 XJR rated HP is 322HP, producing ~258 rear wheel HP is a 20% loss.
X300 NA rated HP is 245HP, producing ~192 rear wheep HP is also close enough to 20%.

That seems very typical.

You can thank the 4L80E trans for much of that loss. It's notoriously parasitic....just like it's older brother the TH400

Cheers

Well, 20% is not too bad really in my opinion. I was pleasantly surprised.

I'd rather have the "bulletproof" 4L80E than a lot of alternatives. Plus being a descendent of the TH400, there are a lot of parts and knowledge after several decades of existence
