XJR vs XJ6L
Looking for insight from XJR owners and more so anyone who has had an X300 and XJR. My current daily driver is an immaculate 97 XJ6L and I've a friend with a nice 97 XJR for sale. Mine is impeccable with 69K on the clock and his is respectable with 103K on the clock. I'm considering buying his and selling mine and would like to know peoples thoughts on the two cars and weather the lure of something a little "shorter" (mine an L) a little more powerful and a little sportier are worth parting with mine and picking up his. I like my color better (mines Titanium Pearl, his white) his interior is not as nice (fixable) his mileage is higher, plus I know my car inside and out.

"...a little more powerful and a little sportier...." ?
There's roughly 80 horsepower difference ....that's quite bit!
As for sportier, well, not much to talk about appearance-wise but the XJR suspension is quite firm compared to the standard XJ6.
Have you driven the candidate XJR? What are your own thoughts? That's what counts. If you find the differences to be minor (which would surprise me a bit) and you're happy with your XJ6 (and you do appear to be happy with it) then I see no point in changing.
The shorter wheelbase would be an issue if you regularly transport rear seat passengers. Otherwise not significant unless you personally prefer the look of the shorter cars, as I do.
Cheers

You can multiply most repair times by a factor of two if you do your own work. You can't just remove an XJR throttle body to clean it like you can on an XJ6, on the R it's a massive affair.
I'm also finding the XJR specific items are getting harder and harder to come by recently.
Just some things to consider..
