XJR wishbone at an angle after rebuilding suspension
Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me fix the tilted wishbone as seen in the picture.
I refreshed the rear suspension on my 96 XJR after finding that the dampers were gone and the bushings all torn up. I replaced the torn bushes and put in new dampers, put it back together on the car and now I see that the wishbone is tilted! I remember it being horizontal when I removed the hubs. Is there some sort of adjustment to make it horizontal?!

Reason: remove bad pic
I just had a look at some pix of the rear undercarriage of my car and both wishbones are tilted front up the same as your car. That is just how they are, check your other side and it should be the same. See below.

Oh thank you so much! Appreciate the effort. I guess mine seemed horizontal before I took it apart bc the bushing in the damper was completely gone and that allowed for play in the wishbone arm. Phew! After being at it all week, I was not looking forward to taking apart the darn thing again!
I concur with Jeff. But I always wondered why they are tilted like that. I suppose in the overall design it locates the wheel correctly. If I recall the XJS wishbones are not tilted like the X300. Edit: Or are they? I couldn't tell from search images.

I’ve had several XJ6s and the rear wishbones are definitely horizontal as I believe they are on the XJS and E-Type.
I believe the early XJs all had anti-dive technology designed into the front end so maybe the rear end on the newer cars has anti-squat technology designed into it.
So that's probably the anti-squat technology! I do remember the X300 brochures mentioning anti-dive and anti-squat but had no idea what that meant in terms of what such a design might look like. Very interesting. There's always something "new" to learn about.
