Default XJR Front Suspension

My 2007 XJR front suspension has gradually become noisier going over bumps/potholes, a knock sound being heard. I took it to a local place who diagnosed some problem on either side, each requiring a part containing bushes, available only from a main dealer at about £350 each. Looking at the suspension I cannot see what part would be that expensive. The car drives well, no veering and the steering wheel is straight. I would appreciate some comments, thanks.

Sounds similar to my issue. I believe its coming from my upper control arms. The rubber bushing on the ball joint is completely destroyed on both sides. I found a seller on ebay that sells an aftermarket pair for $130 with a one year warranty, but I'm not convinced of the quality.

We're beginning to get a minor knock in the front suspension of our '04 also but I haven't had time to investigate. See the thread below for information on the front suspension bushes/bushings:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...version-79499/

Some of the bushings are not available separately from Jaguar, such as those in the control arms, but my understanding is that aftermarket bushes are now available so the control arms don't have to be replaced. The anti-roll bar links may be another potential source of front-end knock.

Cheers,

Don

Thanks for the reply, XJ8JR. Having this work done on Wednesday. I will let you know what the results are. The car has done 77 thousand miles and apart from brakes, this is the only problem that's occurred(and hood catch seizing last winter). The car has been superb.

There is one part in a front suspension, which may cost a £350. It's a front lower wishbone arm (banana shaped one ).
If the front bushing of this arm is shot there'll be some noises, but there'll be no tyre wear, no floating e.t.c. Sometimes there may be a slight pulling to the right or to the left while braking.
Jaguar does not provide a bushing as a separate part, so you have to replace a whole part.
Actually there IS a workaround using some other Jaguar parts (less than 70$ per one side), but i will not write it here, since there's a lot of Russian Jaguar owners reading this forum and i don't want to steal a money from russian Jaguar dealers
Anyone, who's intrested may PM me, but you must promise to keep this solution out of public access.

Had the upper control arms replaced. Better, but the original noise is still there. Maybe it's the lower damper bushes ? I imagine these take the brunt.
