XJR6 Manual :) clutch replacement
need to replace a heavy, slipping clutch on an xjr6, but cant seem to find a replacement;
Ive tried a jag dealership but apparently they are unavailable, as are the likes of david manners and britishparts.
Ive been told that certain parts of the clutch kit are unique to the 'R' is this correct?
does anyone know of a supplier??

Hopefully XJR Engineer will see this thread and chime in.
However, I *think* others who have faced your dilemma have simply used clutch parts from a normally aspirated car, and with good results.
Or have your disc and pressure plate rebuilt. Here in the 'States, at least, there are outfits that do that. Send 'em your old stuff and they reline the disc, reface the pressure plate, new springs, etc.
Cheers

I have the clutch bearing, paid about 120 for it, never fitted, still in the box, as I've found out after the purchase that it wasn't the part I needed... Anyway, from I can remember, Andy said that yes, there was sort of unique clutch fitted in XJRs, but there were many conversions with standard clutch fitted without any problems, and they seem to handle all the power.

The friction plate of the clutch (EBC2856) is common to all 4.0L cars since 1990. This is the bit that would normally wear out. As far as I know it is still available from Jaguar However, both the clutch cover and dual mass flywheel are unique and non longer available from Jaguar, but you shouldn’t need to replace these parts. If you need to replace the clutch cover you can still buy the part for the naturally aspirated engines (EBC3115). The duel mass flywheel for the naturally aspirated cars is no longer available either from Jaguar. Your might want to consider replacing the clutch release bearing (JLM9626) while the clutch is being replaced. Hope this info helps.
