Default XJR6 replacement front discs and pads

My 1996 XJR6 needs a new set of front discs and pads and I wondered if anyone has fitted branded ones such as Mintex, EBC or Brembo with any interesting results? If there's no real benefit then I'll fit OEM replacements. But I know that some people have had good results with these "upgraded" ones! Thoughts please, ladies and gentleman!

Can't speak to the rotors as mine were good enough to turn, but I got Akebono Euro ceramic pads and really like them. They stop well and no dust.

They are well regarded in the European car and performance market.

I have used many discs over the years and to be honest I have never noticed any improvement. Slotted, drilled, slotted and drilled tried them all. Brembo, Stoptech, EBC, etc. there was never really a difference. The pads seem to make huge improvements and I am running the Akebono(sp) and really like them too.

I had NAPA rotors on my XJR. No problems, nor any particular praise. They did the job. I'm not a madman-with-hair-on-fire driver but I do put a car thru its paces every so often......so the brakes did get a bit of a workout from time to time.

Add my +1 on Akebono.

On other Jags I've used Brembo, Bendix, Lucas, Raybestos, Wagner.....never had problems with any of them

Cheers
DD

I have fitted Mintex pads, which have performed well, and worn well. One significant niggle though is that it is difficult/impossible to bring the car to a complete halt without a small groan from the pads. Not loud, but seems unavoidable, hot or cold, just as the wheel is about to stop turning. Passengers don't seem to notice, but I do! Even creeping in traffic they do it at every stop. So despite otherwise being fine, I won't be fitting Mintex again.

I have replaced many front disk pads on many cars. Always used OEM or simular and NEVER had the rotors turned.
