Below is a photo of my manual XJR (blue) which I have owned for 9 months. It goes like a trooper after much remedial work.
Anyway, i have never liked the triple pinstripes, and i don't like red stripes on blue - it hurts the eyes a bit like red on green (eg: the Talking Heads album cover).

I thought this was non-factory, added by an earlier owner, and I have been planning on having a panelbeater remove them.

Then tonight I passed another XJR visiting my small town with... triple pinstripes.
I double parked to get a quick photo of the brothers together.
It seems they are factory - does anyone know? (or the same previous owner has another XJR and has done the same treatment)

 

My never repainted 1995 XJR has triple pinstripe - fortunately light grey on turquoise.

The brochure of the XJR-launch from 1994 also shows clearly a triple pinstripe.

Wonder if it is yet another regional market thing? I've never seen them in the US, although it doesn't mean they aren't here...

I'll go on record saying I too don't really dig them though

The triple pin stripes were certainly standard in the UK. They are surprisingly inocuous 99% of the time. Having ordered an XJR new, without noticing it had stripes, I had a fit when I arrived to collect the car as the showroom lighting made them very obvious! The salesman managed to calm me down by explaining they were standard, and on my car (black) they could have been red or green. I am relieved they were red, and hardly notice them.
For what it is worth, they stripes on the black car photographed earlier in the thread look a little too red to me. The original red is more towards maroon, and is quite subdued.
