.... look up to the heavens thinking, "What the heck is wrong with it THIS time?" after it fails to start.
Key in .... turn a little ... turn a bit more .... silence.

Then there's the delight when you realise that you put it in PARK earlier to get a good view of the centre console.
Key in .... turn a little ... turn a bit more .... BROOOOOOOM, bu,bu,bu,bu

Oh man, done that. Gave me a little sick feeling , then joy like Christmas.

 

I did that on the Xj40 twice, once thinking it was the starter for nearly a whole day. I almost did it with the X300, but the bonger went off, and I don't think it would let me remove the key.

 

They had complimentary valet parking at the office I used to work out of. One day the attendant says the car won't start. Calmly, I walk over and put the key in the ignition. Gently, I jiggle the gear selector. Confidently, I turn the key. She roars to life.

Puzzled, the attendant looks at me and asks "how did you do that?"
