Got rocked on the expressway last night and now need to replace the windscreen. My XJR does rain sense- but I always thought that was a function of electronics in the rear view mirror. In researching replacement windscreens- There is an option for one that "rain senses". Any collective wisdom from the group? Are the two windscreens actually different electronically? Is it a matter of installation?? thanks in advance-

 

There are about 3 versions for the windscreen: plain(no rain sensor,no defrosting), with rain sensor and with rain sensor and defrosting. The rain sensor option is in fact a black painted portion coming down from the top of the windscreen to the mirror stem and have a one inch diameter clean zone, where the rain sensor is glued with some silicone sealant.

I found only the non sensor version(cheapest) and I used a piece of window tinting film to make the sensor portion.
