03 VDP Misc. problems

I have been trying to get the puddle lamps on my car working since I bought it 6 months ago. I also have some other peculiar problems with this car. The warning light and message comes on for the passenger door and boot (open) for no obvious reason. I don't know if the car is equipped with a warning buzzer when you leave your keys in the ignition or leave the headlights on but nothing trips and the message center doesn't have any warning. From time to time the alarm will go off while the car is locked and secured in the garage. The rear backup sensors activate when I first put the car in reverse but do not trigger when I get close to any object. I'm not sure if it needs a exorcsim or if anyone out there can shed some light on my problems. Any info would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Steve

Sounds like you have a bad door latch setting off the alarm. Also probably a bad trunk latch microswitch.
You need to figure out which latch is bad. Lock the doors from outside with windows open and see if one of them doesn't lock or unlock every time.
Once figured out, you need to change it.

I have the same problem as the OP here. My 2003 XJR believes my "passenger door" is open the majority of the time. Sometimes, if I really slam it hard, the sensor reads it as closed. Whenever I wash the car or get it wet, the passenger door sensor always goes off. This is a problem because, when the electronics system reads the passenger door as open, it won't allow me to use the key dongle to lock it. Sometimes, since the car thinks the passenger door is open, it leaves the interior lights on overnight and drains my battery. A real pain in the ***!
All of my doors seem to lock and unlock fine, though my passenger door silver locking mechanism button doesn't seem to spring up as high as the rest of the doors' do.
Any ideas??
