I've got the dreaded blank nav screen and the 50/51 flasihing code on my 04 XJ8. I've read about a software/firmware DVD that can be downloaded/e-mailed to burn onto a dual-layer DVD. As I've been told to expect to pay out over £1200 at the dealer later this week I'm desperate to try anything. Please help, or point me to who might.

I've just had the vehicle repaired at the local Jaguar dealership (Guy Salmon in Coventry, UK) after all other attempts to get it sorted failed. My bill came to just over £1100 - and that was having a reconditioned Nav Unit fitted at £840+VAT. They told me that a new unit would have been £1400 + VAT +fitting. They have been really good with me in the past and to be honest, I've never felt cheated on their pricing. They are without doubt the best dealership I've ever come across for customer service in my 35 years of car ownership. I contrast them with the abysmal service received from our Teutonic freinds' 3-pointed star dealerships. I don't know what was worse, the E-Class itself or the dealers, and everyone I've spoken to with an E-class appears to have suffered similar problems - with their car and dealers!
