How to open the trunk on 1997 xj6 jag. Key does not wk.

You are posting in the XJ8 (X308), but your car is a X300. They are very similar, but you will probably be moved.
As to your problem, is it a green or black key? The green key is the valet key and will not open the trunk. If a black key, you may be in valet mode which prevents access. Do you have a remote? Once we have those answers we will be able to proceed.

 

Spray the lock well with lube and work the black key. Since most people never use the locks anymore with remotes and buttons the lock cylinder jam
