Hello. I purchased a 1997 XJR from a private owner that hasn't driven it for over a year. The car started, but after I locked the doors, the key wouldn't unlock it. I had to call AAA to unlock it for me, but now the alarm won't turn off until I disconnect the battery. I thought it was a battery issue so I purchased a new one and it's still having the same problem. The key in the ignition will no longer let me start the car and I'm assuming because the alarm isn't disarmed. The remote doesn't work & I replaced the battery, but still no luck. Any suggestions? The previous owner apparently has "no idea" whats wrong with it. Is there a way to bypass the alarm system or simply disconnect it like how a thief would?

 

Well I had a professional lock smith come by & he took down the vin to make new keys at the dealer & reprogram the FOB. Thanks for the views!
