Default 1998 XJR no start code P1111,P1637,P1720,P1797

Hi, This is my first posting. I have a no start condition. If it does start it will only stay running for about 10 secs. Showing codes P1111, P1637, P1720, and P1797. What do I need to check first the ECM? Where is the ECM, TCM, CAN, ABS....thanks!

Nothing wrong with the modules - it sounds like a fuel pump problem, have a look at this post..

Hi Sean,

I read the tread - seems if i pull one fuses at a time either 7 or 15 one of the pumps should work. At this time I can not get it started for even a sec.. This morning it started for like 3 secs. So I tried pullin fuse 7 then 15 no difference. Do you have any other tips. I'm thinking maybe the ECM - P1797 shows TCM/ECM and P1637 shows ABS/ECM

Well what do you think about this test procedures? Seems to me... that the fuel tank has a power plug on top that have 2 hot wires plus 2 ground wires. The hot wires are a Blue/Brown wire for pump 1, and the Blue/Red wire for pump 2.

1. Disconnect the fuel pump power plug on top the tank. Turn the key to on and measure, I had zero volts at pump 1 and 2 hot leads.
2. While cranking the engine I got voltage only at pump one, I never could get voltage at pump 2. (I'm not sure what is suppose to be on the wires at this time).
3. Removed the ground lead on the battery and turned the key to the on position.
4. Pull the pump one relay and jumper between pins 30/87
4. Reconnected the ground to the battery and now measured at the plug end going in the tank - I found 12 v.
5. Disconnected the ground to battery then do pump 2 the same way and I found 12v on the other hot lead at the tank plug.
6. Disconnect the battery again and reconnected the plug to the tank and retest using the same procedures jumper one relay at a time. I could hear no noise from the pumps and sounds like both pumps are bad to me!
