Have a new question. When re-assembling the exhaust manifold to the heads is it a must to replace the exhaust manifold bolts? I know the torque is to be 14.5 then 18 Lb. wondering how do I keep from stripping out the heads of the bolts. I have 12 point sockets from Sears and I strip them out and I know I am not at the 14.5 Lb yet. Any suggestions appreciated! Oh I do have the manuals of what I think I need already, thanks to help from you all

 

I'd get a set of 6 point sockets - deep well if needed. Hide the 12 point sockets somewhere you can't find them.

 

ditto- hide those 12 pointers, they just trash nuts/bolts.
