Can the v8 supercharged engine over heat if the auxiliary pump is not working?

I am trying to figure out why the engine keeps over heating.

New hoses, radiators, main pump, fluid, and it still over heats.
Gets hot and dumps all the coolant on the ground. The hoses are connected properly.

Car has been sitting for 10 years, now trying to run again!

I think the first thing I would do is check to see if both of the electric fans are coming on.

Second I think I would replace the thermostat with a recommended OEM.
