1999 VDP (X308) Rear wheel Bearings replaced.
I just had both rear wheel bearings (drivers and passenger side) replaced at a local Snellville, Ga. repair shop.
Cost: $1075.00.
I was gonna do it myself. But, I no longer have the upper body strength to do those repairs anymore.
My wife keeps reminding me I'm 74 not 70 anymore.
The shop is called EuroFed and they do nice work. A little pricy, but hey this is a Jaguar. It sits up there with the
Mercedes and BMW's when it comes to maintenance issues pricing.
The Drivers side bearings would occasionally give out with a growling sound. Sometimes it would sound like
the edge of the road warning strips. I had both sides done even though only 1 side (drivers side) was giving out the sounds
every now and then. The mechanic said the drivers side bearings were definitely going out.
I'm a little disappointed that the bearings only lasted 120K miles.
I still have the timing chain tension-er issue to deal with, maybe. No sounds yet from that area.
Another $1K - $2K issue to save up for.
Oh, and now the Hood (bonnet) release for 1 side doesn't work. More fun and games.
Kind Regards,
Robert J. Scarborough
