Default 1999 xj8 3.2

My "new" 1999 XJ8 3.2 wheels have 225 60 16 tyres on. I have access to a set of Celtic Alloys with 235 50 17 tyres on. A. Will these fit the 3.2. B. What effect will this change have on the speedo? Bill W.

If you use a site like Tire Size Calculator

you will see a difference of about -1 mph at 60mph. The 17 " tires are smaller in height than the 16 " so you would be doing about 59 mph (59.3 to be exact ) instead of 60mph.

I do not know if they will fit or rub or any other problems you might run into, just ran the numbers for you.

Thanks Sean,

I have a Sovereign with Celtics on and it has the longer wheel studs and I wasn't sure if they would fit on hubs with standard studs on.
Thanks
