Hi I am starting to assemble the cyl heads and I put in cams and did a check of clearances and I took back apart and miked up shims to see what I need , I went to Jaguar dealer and they told me good luck we only order parts for cars under 10 years old , So I know in thousands what i need but where can I buy the shims to set my clearances , unfortunately I need thicker shims as intake valves were like .009 to .015 and exhaust were ,011 to ,018 , I read in alldata spec is intake .008 and exhaust.010 and tolerances is .0008 so under 1 thousandth .
So what I did was then measure all shims and I got 1 head done and I got other one as far as I can go , here is what I need in inches

Please someone steer me where to buy parts and or correct part numbers as I know thicknesses in inches I need . also are these shims possible Ford or lincoln if so what yrs and or engines I know some parts interchangeable

Your life will be so much easier if you get a metric caliper and a metric feeler gauge set.(shims are sized from 2.18mm to 2.45mm)

Trying to convert from one to the other just complicates things.

HI I got all shims ordered found all shims had to use 2 places one called Terrys jaguar and other called Welsh so be here in a few days , great , I was getting worried , Parts seems harder to find then what I usually work on being Mercedes and BMW , I will update job as I go thanks for help

 

The 2.38 is NLA (2.375mm is close AJ84898) and the 4.2 liter engine parts might still be available?

2.46 mm is NLA.(2.465mm is AJ84905)

2.51 is AJ84908
2.54 is AJ84910

Look up part numbers for later cars with the same tappet dimensions.
