Fuel rail pipe/starting problem 1999 xj8 x308 3.2
Hi all... U.K. based.
New addition, meant to be a parts car for a 3.2 sport but too solid and some good service history so I’m trying to get her going.
Hasn’t run in at least 4 years, dry stored.
Turns over, has fresh fuel to the rail (don’t have pressure tester yet), spark and fires briefly on easy start.
Fault codes:P0102 mass or volume air flow circuit low input
P0112 Intake air temperature sensor 1 low input.
P1646 oxygen sensor bk1
P1647 oxygen sensor bk2
In searching for wiring issues I found some rodent interaction.
Would this cause a non start issue and what’s needed to change the pipe as it doesn’t seem to have simple connectors.
thanks in advance.

Small update.
That pipe looks like fuel return pipe, no pressure connectors so no influence on non start problem.
The fuel I had at the rail (Schraeder valve) is now not there so I’m assuming the usual fuel pump issue.
Pump and cam cover gaskets, to check upper tensioners, being ordered.

Hi, I have just changed my fuel pump with filter, have you bought the pump yet?
initially I bought and tried two pumps, one off eBay and one from an online jag specialist, both didn't fit the pump carrier so I returned them and bought it from Jaguar, cost me £175 all in after a some haggling.
But, there is another pump which looks identical to the Jag one, it was being sold on eB...com USA and after some searching found it on eB...co.uk.
The guys on here maybe able to tell you whether its any good or not.
If you would like a link to it I may be able to find it, in the end I bit the bullet because the pump is in the tank and I didn't want to change it again or *** about if something went wrong with it.
if you have any questions I may be able to help !
oh and don't muller the cable that connects to the pump the jag one is £85+ vodka and tonic, or £89 quid all in with some more haggling.
cheers.

I’ve fitted one before in a 1997 XJ8 4.0l without too much of an issue (except fuel leakage underneath after pipe release) using the X308 workshop manual as a guide (didn’t touch the prop shaft though).
I’ve ordered the same from BerkshireJag.....for the 1999 XJ8 and a 2001 XJ8 Sport so lots of swearing trying to extract the fuel lines from the connectors I expect. 🥴
I just hope that is the only problem for both cars.🤞... yeah right 😂

Underneath the car today to extract fuel pipes and there is an inordinate amount of what appears to be, diff oil. It dissipates toward the front of the car if so.
Would this amount of oil suggest that it needs removal for seals, etc or is it generally just a top up operation?
thanks for any opinions.
Oil appears to spray towards front of the car if it’s from the diff!
