Good job! Carry on and let us know how it works. Pay special attention to the end float of the input shaft once it is assembled. The manual tells you to measure things before assembly but I found it easier to bolt it all together, stand the tranny on the tail shaft, and using a straight edge and digital calipers, measure how much the shaft moves when you pull up on it. Then measure the exisiting shim, do the math, and order the correct shim. I have a list of shim part numbers by size if you need it.

UPDATE!!! Got everything together except valve body now. I have cleaned all the parts of it and replaced the internal components with new ones. Tomorrow it will all go together if the gods are in my favor then installed this weekend.

Any last minute advice?

Well after many hours of disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, ordering parts, waiting on parts, and most of all PATIENCE, we are rolling again. I will post some more pics later.

On the down side, it's not over yet....during the install I noticed the "octopus" hose leaking. That is gonna have to wait for a bit cause my a$$ is tired.

Thanks to all!!!!

hello. idid it before .the a b drum .they are all eventuallw y bad.so when you shift from 1st to second, and it bangs into second, that is the damage you saw. now. to avoid any future banging into second, avoid accelerating until it goes into second. sometimes i would slow down to turn a corner and as i m turning i step on it to resume my speed, and bang. it s like as if i would be temporaRILY in neutral and aceleratingwould force it to bang into second at 2000 rpm.the explanation is low oil pressure , dirty filter ,plugged cooler and very hot oil . i bypassed the rad coolerwith a trans cooler froma transport truck. that was two years ago. its still perfect today .
