Is there a way to match the codes on my guage cluster to my vin number to make sure it is the original one?

Below is the reply from Sean B on my question regarding this matter.
You can further search on VCATS, it is all pretty clear after that.

There is a module component list called the VCATS list in the trunk of your car (near the spare wheel well) on this list are all the electronic modules and more importantly their program version.
You need the same model year and as close to your car's build date for the part to work.

The numbers may match, but that doesn't guarantee that it's the original. Is there some reason why it must be the original and not a replacement?

Are you alluding to the practice of turning a high mileage car into a much lower one buy simply buying a used cluster showing less on the odometer and installing it?

Throws out any service history but can make the unscrupulous backyarders some extra $$$s

I pulled the history report on my Jag last week and in 03/14 it stated 98,000 miles. All mileage figures up to that point looked correct. I bought the car in 07/14 and the odometer read 125,000. That would be a lot of driving in 4 months. That is my reason for wanting to check the originality of the cluster and if it is a replacement try and find one that would be closer to the correct mileage or if possible, have this one readjusted.

Since a car with lower mileage is worth more than 1 with high mileage, you can be sure that, if they knew it, the seller would have told you about it.
Who did you bought the car from?

What's that? Just under 2,000 miles a week! Unlikely.

Maybe keep an eye on the odometer to see if it is not reading Kilometres or has gone awry.

Otherwise I'd be suspicious too.

There's many companies that offer that service now. If you look on ebay there's many companies there that have great feedback that will program an odometer to match the car's mileage. any reputable company that you use where have you to sign an odometer statement waiver
