Default 2002 XJ8 Window Washer button broken..how to fix?

The window washer button, which used to work and seemed to be spring loaded, now does not move, or activated the sprayer for the windshield.

Anyone know how to fix this, and where to get the replacement parts???

Thank you in advance

Hi
I have tried searching the forum, JTIS and the internet for any information on trying to repair the window washer/wiper switch and came up with nothing to report.

The JTIS has information on the removal and install of the wiper switch.

It lists cautions about the air bags before removal of the steering wheel, removal of the steering cowls, disconnecting a bunch of harness connectors, removal of the steering column switchware assembly, then the removal of windshield wiper/washer switch/mounting bracket/audible warning speaker assembly.

Seems like you might have to get a used or new windshield wiper/washer switch.

Here are several for sale on Ebay and the price ranges for used part is ($25 to $175) and a new one on Ebay for $200.
None of the Ebay listing give the part number for the wiper switch they are selling.

Caution - Looks there are 2 wiper switches available.

I found them on Gaudin Jaguar Parts website
Part#LNF6460AA - Wiper switch w/rain sensor list price $195.50 discounted $158.84
LJA6460BC - Wiper switch w/o rain sensor list price $156.00 discounted $126.75

Wow, you put in a lot of effort here. Thank you very much for your efforts. I was hoping for a simple " you spit here, and throw some salt over your left shoulder, and in the morning it will fix itself...." But reality is also useful

$40 for the part delivered +1 hour labor at my local jag place. For that, I don't think it is worth me messing with. I certainly don't want to blow an airbag

Again, thank you very much for helping someone much much less knowledgeable than yourself. Your post was a huge help for me.
