I have a 2002 XJR. Car had not been driven for about a week. I had no problem putting in reverse, and it drove fine. When I tried to shift into drive, it would not go. Removed the override and was able to push into drive however it would not engage and is very loose. Had gotten a "high gearbox temperature" warning and now it will not go into park nor will it start from neutral or any other gear.

Before I had towed to the dealership wanted to get some input about what might be the problem. Ostensibly it seems something is loose in the gearbox and maybe a plastic piece is jammed.
