Default 2003 XJR Can I Use Reg. Front Shocks?

Is it possible to use non electronic front shocks in a 2003 XJR? Has anybody done it? Used electronic shocks? Does it make any sense?

To keep the correct handling and ride means using oem Bilstein Cats shocks, expensive parts but the correct way.
Why does the car need replacements, Cats shocks are normally bomb proof?

My car has 95,00 miles, they are shot. The wheels bounce like basketballs.

OK, I was underneith the car yesterday. Shock removal looked very easy. The bottom is a no brainer. Is the top just the removal of the very top nut/washer where the electrical plug is?
