I have a 5HP24 gearbox which won't shift gears from 1 to 2. The revs will just increase but the car won't really move much at all. Reverse works fine, and if I have so much speed that 2nd gear would be in, all gears 2-5 will work just fine. The shifts at gears 2-5 are smooth. If I drive in 2nd gear and press the throttle hard until kickdown, it will downshift to 1 but again it won't go back to 2.

Any ideas what the issue could be? The transmission fluid was replaced a few years ago.

 

A drum failure. Do a google search and you will find hours of reading.

 

I've read about A drum failure, but my impression was that no gears would work then? In my case the car is perfectly driveable in manual mode, and in automatic on gears 2-5. Maybe it's still the drum?

 

I misread, more likely a valve body problem, maybe. The transmission is used in many cars like BMW, so a transmission shop or foreign car specialist may be able to help.
But first, try a hard reset: one way is to disconnect the negative battery cable and touch to the positive post for a few seconds, then reconnect and turn the ignition on for 30 sec before starting. The engine will race then settle down.

 

1 shot only drain fluid remove pan change filter with original zf filter refill with golden lt71141 fluid if this didn't work then your choice rebuild it or get reman gearbox
