Default 98 xj8--stuck lifter

98 xj8--Is it possible to replace stuck lifter without removing head? ......On Ford engines, a special lifter removal tool allows replacement of hydraulic lifter w/o head removal.
Is this possible on 98 Jag xj8 engine?..thanks for any info.

The car has overhead cams. You would need to set engine in time (see thread about tensioner replacement) then remove chain from affected cam and unbolt the cam. The lifter will then come out. No need to remove head unless valve is bent. While you are in there, replace primary and secondary chains and tensioners and guides.
