Whenever I put my climate control to "Auto" (or use the "Defrost" button) the A/C button light turns on. This makes sense for the defrost mode, but I'm wondering if it does for "Auto" mode, regardless of the temperature I've set it to. Is this just a way to let me know that the A/C might be used if needed, or should I take it to mean the A/C is on (even when it's using the heater)?

I have been meaning to actually look at the compressor to see if perhaps that would answer the question, but I haven't yet. I was just curious if this is normal or not, based on your experiences.

 

Auto includes AC (but not necessarily the compressor until cooling is needed).
