99 XJ8 VDP: Trunk light and alarm mystery
My trunk light does not immediately turn on when I open the trunk. Usually, if I've had it open for a couple of minutes, it will eventually turn on. I've been thinking it's maybe a switch that gets stuck. However, the other issue I have with the trunk is that, sometimes - perhaps when I just release the trunk from the remote, while the car is locked, and I open the trunk for more than 30 - 120 seconds, the "alarm is about to go off, grab your key remote quickly" chirps begin (and the alarm, if I'm not quick enough). Still probably could be a slow/stuck switch, but I'm wondering if there are any other thoughts on this.
Broken wires in the right boot hinge. Under plastic cover, in plastic conduit, wrapped in tape. The wires flex and break. If your trunk/boot lights don't work, the security system gets out of wack. This is very common, probably should be a sticky on this, if there's not. Here's one thread -
