Default 99 XJ8 VDP: A way to secure hubcaps?

Awhile back, I'm pretty sure one of my hubcaps were popped off while it sat in a parking lot. It's not a bad deal for thieves since they can probably grab at least $75 for it.

It got me wondering though... Anyone had any success securing the caps somehow, so that they can't be easily popped off, but without damaging the cosmetics?

It is more likely that the hub cap just fell off while driving (a thief would have probably taken all of them). The plastic tabs at the back of the hub cap that hold the large circular spring get cracked or broken off and the hub cap is not held well anymore. I suggest that you check this on all of your remaining hub caps. When I bought my Super V8 (similar hub caps as the VDP), one fell of somewhere while I drove the car home (~ 10 km) and then I found that another hub cap was also about to fall-off as it had two of its five plastic tabs cracked at the base and loose. New hub caps was my solution.

+1 on above, heat and wear and mainly rough handling at the tire shop I presume.
When we bought our VDP, 3 out of 4 were glued with some thick black resin (of course I only found out after I bought the car, during a tire change).
I managed to buy a "new" 2nd hand set of four from a forum member here, and used them till I sold all wheels.

A while back, I saw a picture of someone using zip ties to secure these. My issue is not that they fall off, but that when you hit a bump, they rattle. Has anyone figured this out to keep them from making noises?
