By way of backgound my 99 was running fine then engine (77K miles on it)stopped. Some rattling when I tried to start it. Some of you suggested timing chain( and you were right).
Upon removing the front we discovered that the boltsthat hold on the guideshad sheared off. Chain looks o.k. but seems to have a slight twist to it, well probably replace after we spin the engine and check compression. Tensioners seem to be o.k. should we replace anyhow?
Question, has anyone ever seen the bolts sheared off like this?? What kind of sheer pressure could have caused this and is this indicative of a larger problem.
