Default About Maintenance schedule and extended warranty....

Where can I find a maintenance schedule online?? My car is at the shop so I don't have access to my info.

Also...was looking into getting an extended warranty.....5 years, 100K miles for $3,000. Any thought on doing that? Worried about pouring $$$ into this baby at rapid rate! lol

Check the 'exclusion clauses' very carefully on any extended warranties.

The biggest mechanical problems with the early X308's are the secondary timing chain tensioners, the standard XJ8 gearbox 'A' clutch drum (XJR had a different & stronger gearbox) & Nikasil engine block failure-although the latter fault would almost certainly have shown itself earlier in the car's life.

Have you had your secondary timing chain tensioners replaced with the latest metal-bodied parts? If not, then there's a risk the older plastic-bodied items could fail & cause expensive engine damage.

You've got the non-supercharged XJ8 with the standard ZF gearbox. Have you had the transmission overhauled & the 'A' clutch drum replaced at all? If not, then the gearbox is at risk of this failure.

If you've still got the original plastic timing chain tensioners & the original 'A' clutch drum in the gearbox, then those expensive failures would justify an extended warranty IF they will be covered by the warranty, so check the policy details VERY CAREFULLY
