Default ACC code #14

I ran the check on the climate control (using the in car display) and came up with a #14 error code -- this is listed as signal problem from the Instrument panel engine temp. It was not currently listed as a active code.

But when I had the problem last week with the restricted performance -- this was an active code since the display was beeping and I had the "errr"

I'm wondering if this is linked in the "CAN" -- Certainly the engine temp is -- just not sure if the "CAN" includes the Climate Control. I'm wondering if this loss of signal could cause the "Restricted Performance" All of my codes for the RP were "CAN" related. Is the only way to get further codes to use something called "Jaguar Portable diagnostic unit -- aka the "PDU" ?

The PDU is discussed and even pictured in a couple technical documents on the XK8/R. When I was chasing a transmission shift problem a couple years ago I discussed the PDU with a couple dealer service departments. Neither knew what I was talking about.

The IDS is all either had. It, or another full scan device, such as the AutoEnginuity Scan Tool is probably what you are looking for.

Sorry for the silly question, but how do you run the check using the in-car display?

I'm just curious because I was not aware of a way to do this on the Jag. I remember doing this on my Dad's Cadillac years ago.

Look back at my previous post -- another member took the time to give me the downloads on how to do it.
