Question Adjusting the Automatic front lights

Jaguar did introduced a very nice feature to the X308 model - the automatic front lights. It's very useful, but I found myself in troubles because of this "gadget" - last night while driving home at 2:00AM (absolutely dark night) I passed with my XJ under a very bright street light and the sensor of the automatic front lights decided to turn them off... unfortunately this happened in front of two policemen and of course they stopped me and fined me for driving with no lights at night.

So my question is - is there a way to adjust how the automatic front lights should behave? For example - ones turned off I think it's better that they stay on until I turn off the engine... is it possible to do this? Or at least to make the sensor more sensitive

The sensitivity adjustment is by a small dial on the back of the rear view mirror, can't remember if it's clockwise to de-sensitize it? I'd have to check the handbook.

Very bad luck to have it happen in front of the rozzers

Ken, the idea to add different features to any technology is to make the life of the users easier If I was to do everything manually I wouldn't be driving a Jaguar just to get from point A to point B - a Kia or Daewoo would be good enough for the same purpose... I hope you understand my point of view. It's not that I can't do something, it's just that I want it do bring me pleasure

Sean I know very well this dial... Tonight I'll try to play with it. Thank you once again.

Put a piece of black tape over the sensor and they become daytime/nighttime always on lights till you shut off the car
