Another sunroof question
As I said in another post that I was replacing my headliner but at the same time redoing my broken sunroof. I took many pictures but am now having a problem. I removed the sunroof frame and motor, replaced cables and tilt open mechanism and after replacing every thing this is what I get. When I push to tilt it works OK, then when I push to open it returns to open about 6 inch from fully open, when I push to close it goes to the tilt again. So what it actually does is ether open or in the tilt position with no close. I tried the info from the other post on how to reset but with no luck. When I push and hold in tilt I can hear the relay clicking but no movement. I had thought that sense I removed the motor there must be some kind of adjustment on the motor gear release located below the motor this allows you to use a flat screwdriver to move the roof were you want it and disengage the motor.Does anyone have any answers??
Thanks

The little black box that syncronizes the sliding roof position needs to be set at CLOSED (2 white marks) and then installed to the roof trake CLOSED.
It's hard to explain but once you see it done it is easy.

Not sure what white marks you meant, but buy turning the little screw under the gear a little at a time then replacing the box I got it were it should be. Lots of thanks for the stear.

All- just bought a used '98 XJ8 with similar sunroof issues. I've replaced the modulator (previous one just kept running) and am in the process of adjusting the "timing" on the new one. A previous poster mentioned 2 white indicator marks to be adjusted when in the closed position. Would it be possible to get a picture?
The mod. that I purchased is an iNalfa (sp?) and I'm not sure if this is an aftermarket part, or original Jaguar part, so the white lines may not be present. I may have to just sneak up on it, by turning the timing gear in the modulator a little bit at a time as suggested.
Thanks Guys
